According to foreign media reports, Panasonic announced that it will cooperate with Tesla to build a prototype battery trial production line at the Super Factory in Nevada, USA, aiming to produce 4680 batteries. Panasonic Chief Financial Officer Hirokazu Umeda recently announced that the company will jointly produce the new 4680 battery with Tesla, which Tesla had introduced in its 'Battery Day' event. The executive revealed to Reuters: 'We have obtained a lot of technical content of this battery. After Tesla's'Battery Day' event in September this year, we immediately committed to producing the battery. We are currently preparing the battery. Trial production line for prototype products.” The larger size of the Tesla 4680 battery is expected to significantly reduce the cost per kilowatt-hour. It is said that Tesla independently designed the production equipment for this battery product. Tesla is building a large-scale trial production line in Fremont, and is expected to deploy larger-scale production equipment elsewhere. In addition, Reuters heard that Tesla’s other battery supplier, LG Chem, is also creating a new battery product that is very similar to the 4680 battery.
