BYD's Breakthrough in Extending the Range of LiFePO4

BYD Vice President and Chairman of Blade Battery, He Long, stated, "All major automotive brands are discussing cooperation plans with us based on the 'blade battery' technology." Indeed, BYD's blade batteries began supplying Tesla in August 2022 and were installed in Model Y vehicles at the German factory by the end of August.

This collaboration between competitors underscores the competitive edge of blade batteries. This innovation minimizes wasted space and bulkiness, allowing BYD to achieve longer ranges with LiFePO4 batteries.

BYD also claims that vehicles on its 3.0 platform equipped with blade batteries will achieve a range of up to 1000 kilometers, challenging the conventional perception of LiFePO4 battery range limitations.
