Pack design of next-generation plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV)

Lithium Grid News: A few days ago, I am very happy to have some exchanges with international battery companies, and there are still some gains. Especially compare some information about the historical development process. Here is the development direction of PHEV batteries and power battery systems.

Currently, BMW and Volkswagen have really tried the development of modular PHEV. Among them, BMW is actually quite entangled in what it does. I tried to sort out the past requirements for battery packs of all its PHEV projects one by one. These battery packs are actually quite different. The main reason is:

Every battery pack is Choose the right space according to local conditions.

The Chinese version needs to meet the PHEV's 50km pure electricity requirements, making the capacity generally larger than the foreign version, and it is not very easy to do in terms of space

F18 Both F49 and F49 are specially customized

G38's dual modules are now compared to G30, and a lot of differentiation has been made for energy needs.

We Looking forward, the basic situation is that foreign PHEVs can basically meet the original energy density requirements of 7.1-9.2. Basically, 37Ah can cover such needs. In China, small cars are also carefully optimized on this basis. Larger models (large SUVs) may need to increase the capacity. To go to a range of 47-49Ah, no matter how high it is, it doesn't make much sense. In the development of PHEV batteries, the focus is still on the consideration of lower cost, and the capacity requirements of the batteries have basically reached the top.

From the perspective of Pack, the Roadmap written by a company before basically represents the planning of European companies, platforming the battery, leaving enough flat space on each model to reuse the battery system. As shown below:

Pack needs to be flattened;

Pack's cooling system needs to be integrated under the frame system;

Pack's electrical and electronic systems need to be integrated To further optimize, the module should be bigger.

The basic idea is to continue to dig deeper in the design of Audi A6:

We can combine the cold plate and frame system For integration, as shown in the following two, the cold plate is embedded in the frame system;

makes the entire assembly and thermal glue process easier;

In the battery system, only Keep the centralized collection, transfer the calculation part to other controllers, and make redundant Fai-safe in the distribution box.

At the module level, from a module board with a bracket, a cold plate can be Department to improve, using potting mode to reduce the cold plate (from 6 to 2)

Here, the heat dissipation and heat insulation should be carefully evaluated. If 1P is used To 37Ah, add insulating pads between each piece, and make 4 cooling plates at intervals.

Summary: The current battery core really depends on the food, in fact, it has to be further released according to subsidies. Make some requirements, or comprehensively evaluate reasonable requirements at the cell level to reduce the cost of PHEV and the entire Pack, and secondly, try to reuse and develop quickly on different platforms, otherwise PHEV will be very tiring to do .
