Recently, Tetsuro Honma, President and CEO of my country's Northeast Asia Company, the representative director of the Panasonic Group, introduced Panasonic's related layout in the power lithium battery business. Tetsuro Honma said that Panasonic has started the development of the 4680 cylindrical battery, which is 5 times the capacity of traditional batteries. The battery was announced by Tesla on 'Battery Day' last year. Currently, Panasonic and Tesla operate the Gigafactory, a joint venture battery factory in Nevada, USA. Not long ago, Panasonic announced that it would build a new production line at the plant for the production of 4680 batteries. In terms of new battery technology, Panasonic is developing cobalt-free batteries and plans to achieve cobalt-free batteries in the next 2-3 years. Regarding solid-state batteries, Panasonic is more cautious. Tetsuro Honma said that solid-state batteries have the possibility of being a next-generation pure electric vehicle battery, but there are still many technical problems, and it will take a lot of time to solve.
