According to foreign media reports, SKInnovation (SKI) announced that the company will develop the world's first high-performance electric vehicle battery, aiming to increase the maximum range of electric vehicles to 500 kilometers. It is expected that this product will be commercialized as early as 2021. . The company plans to increase its battery output by more than 20 times in 2025, hoping to make itself the third place in the global battery market through heavy investment and technological research and development. Kim Jun, CEO of SKI, announced the company’s growth strategy at a press conference this Monday. The company vowed to fully develop a new generation of NCM (nickel, cobalt, manganese) electric vehicle battery cells. The ratio of the three metal materials is 9 : 0.5: 0.5. Increasing the nickel metal content of the battery means that the mileage of the vehicle will increase as the energy density increases, but this requires the latest technology to achieve battery stability. At present, the nickel metal content of most batteries in the electric vehicle market is 50%-60%, and their cruising range is about 300 kilometers. SKI also plans to promote its production capacity. By 2025, its annual output will increase from the current 4.7GWh to 100GWh. By 2022, its annual output will reach 60GWh. At that time, the company's factories in Changzhou, China, Komárom, Hungary and Georgia, USA will begin operations. The company also plans to increase its order stocking volume during the same period from the current 430GWh to 700GWh. SKI proposed a new business model-Battery as a Service (BaaS), which is a comprehensive service that covers the production, sales and maintenance, leasing, charging and recycling of batteries. The company aims to expand its business to the aviation and marine industries, and will also provide energy storage system solutions in the future.
