Mullen announces test results for solid-state batteries

Compared with lithium-ion batteries, new solid-state batteries have many advantages. Therefore, solid-state batteries are also known as the route of next-generation power lithium battery technology, which has attracted many companies to deploy in this field. According to foreign media reports, recently, Mullen Technologies, an electric vehicle manufacturer tip technology company, announced the results of an independent test of its authorized solid-state polymer battery technology. The test was conducted by EVGrid, an independent laboratory in San Dimas, California. The results show that the use of the authorized battery can make the electric vehicle's cruising range up to 1030 kilometers. Compared with the existing lithium-ion battery, this battery will greatly extend the electric vehicle's cruising range. Based on previous test results, the battery will not degrade between minus 40 degrees Celsius and minus 60 degrees Celsius. Even under extreme driving conditions, the battery pack degrades less than 2% after more than 10,000 charge and discharge cycles. It is worth mentioning that this solid-state battery is lighter than traditional lithium-ion batteries. At the same time, it is not equipped with the same cooling system as lithium-ion batteries. It can also be naturally cooled, and the battery pack does not contain combustible materials, which is very safe and environmentally friendly. It is reported that Mullen plans to use this technology in the 150kWh battery pack of its SUV model MX-05. The vehicle can be fully charged in about 35 minutes using fast charging technology. The new car is expected to be put into production in 2022.
