For 30 years of industrialization of lithium batteries, where is the next technological commanding height?

by:CTECHi     2021-09-01
On November 23, according to the Nikkei Chinese website, a Japanese research team developed an electrolyte for cold-resistant all-solid-state batteries, and said that all-solid-state batteries are a new generation of batteries expected to be used in pure electric vehicles. At the same time, the University of Maryland 'printable, high-performance solid electrolyte film' also came out on the 18th, this technology may promote the development of the next generation of lithium-ion batteries. Recently, even the QuantumScape invested by Bill Gates and Volkswagen Group will soon be backdoor listed. QuantumScape uses an anodeless battery design, which eliminates anode manufacturing costs and makes battery costs 17% lower than traditional lithium battery costs. As the 30th year of the industrialization of lithium-ion batteries, battery technology will also enter a new cycle of change in 2020. At present, the third-generation traditional liquid lithium battery has been used in the power battery market for ten years, but the flammability problem has not been solved. Safety and energy density are still contradictory. Solid-state batteries have become the direction of the next generation of lithium battery technology. Next-generation batteries and thin-film devices provide potential application opportunities. As the prospects for solid-state batteries are unfolding, countries have also accelerated the research and development process to win tickets for themselves in this market. Japan still has solid-state batteries, and Toyota is accelerating its joint project with Panasonic to develop solid-state batteries for vehicles by 2025. At the same time, 23 companies including Honda and Nissan are cooperating to explore solid-state battery related technologies. Related companies in China are also actively making efforts. A large number of technology companies and new material companies such as CATL, BYD, Huineng Technology, Jiawei, Ganfeng Lithium, etc. are engaged in the research and development of solid-state batteries.
