Before understanding the 18650 battery, first understand what the LED flashlight refers to? It is a new type of lighting technology that uses LED light-emitting diodes as the light source. It has the advantages of power saving, durability, and strong brightness. High-brightness LED flashlights have the advantages of power saving, waterproof, anti-corrosion, explosion-proof, anti-fall, durability, and strong brightness. This kind of flashlight is often used in public security, fire fighting, petroleum, chemical, electric power, metallurgy, ships, railways, coal mines, flood control, emergency rescue and other flammable and explosive places, or for long-time work lighting and emergency lighting.
The most commonly used LED flashlight is the 18650 lithium ion battery:
18650 means 18mm in diameter, 65 mm long. The AA battery model is 14500, 14 mm in diameter and 50 mm in length. Generally, 18650 batteries are used more in industry and few in civilian use. The common ones are also used in notebook batteries and high-end flashlights.
1. The battery of the LED flashlight is also an important part of the flashlight. It can be said that the battery used in the excellent LED flashlight basically determines the size and Positioning. The power consumption of current LED flashlights is generally not small. From the perspective of economy and environmental protection, it is recommended to use rechargeable batteries as an important energy storage device and non-rechargeable batteries as a backup option for business-optimized flashlights. Wuyou LED flashlights use 18650 batteries the most. The most ideal battery is a rechargeable lithium-ion battery, which has a large energy density and a high discharge voltage. It does not need to consider the memory effect. It is economical and environmentally friendly. The 16340, 17335, 14500, 18650.26650 and other batteries we usually talk about are models of these rechargeable lithium-ion batteries.
Second, the volume of the 16340 battery used in the LED flashlight is the same as the CR123A battery, but the process is different. The energy density of the CR123A can even reach 2.5 times that of the 16340. In addition, its effective storage life is very long, good even as long as 10 years. In practical applications, the combined volume of two 16340 (CR123A) is not much different from that of one 18650 battery. Therefore, the battery compartment of many LED flashlights is designed to be able to accommodate one 18650 battery. It can be powered by a 18650 battery, and can be powered by two 16340 or CR123A batteries, which is very flexible.

The model parameters can be understood as follows: the first two digits indicate the diameter of the battery, the third and fourth digits indicate the length of the battery, in mm, and the last 0 indicates that the battery is a cylindrical battery. The 18650 battery is a cylindrical battery with a diameter of 18mm and a length of 65mm. Its energy density is the largest among the rechargeable batteries currently used on a large scale, and the discharge current can also withstand normal normal glare flashlights. It can be said that it is the most suitable battery for powering Wuyou series LED glare flashlights. The 14500 is also widely used for a simple reason. Its size is the same as that of an AA (No. 5) battery. It can be put into a flashlight using AA batteries. Of course, it needs to be supported in the circuit. CR123A battery is a non-rechargeable lithium-ion battery, which is commonly used in cameras. Its outstanding advantage is its high energy density.
Four. WUYOU's LED flashlight. I mentioned many advantages of rechargeable lithium-ion batteries. Although lithium-ion batteries are good, they are a bit cumbersome to use. The biggest trouble is that they must be used with a dedicated charger. The currently recognized charging method for rechargeable lithium-ion batteries is to charge the battery with a constant current and then a constant voltage, that is, to charge the battery with a constant current first. At this time, the voltage at both ends of the battery will rise and wait for the voltage to rise to the torsion voltage. (4.2V), start to maintain this voltage unchanged, at this time the current will start to decrease accordingly, until the charging current is reduced to a certain level. At this time, the charging process is completely finished, and generally the cut-off current is 1/10 of the initial charging current, but it is not absolute.
